Yet another total newbie to satellites wanting advice thread :)

    Hello!

In April next year I'll be moving to a non cable area rendering my DBox redundant. I've always wanted to get into satellite TV and my other half has OKayed a moveable dish as a moving in present to myself, bless 'er. If somebody could point me in the right direction re- the below I'd be really grateful, then I've got 4 months to read-up and buy stuff

    1) Does any channel other than SS2 show premiership rugby union? In HD?
    2) Ditto England rugby / cricket?
    3) If I HAVE to get Sky for rugby / cricket I presume I'll be able to have one big dish feeding a Sky receiver and my other receiver?
    4) I'm not a footy fan but 3pm Saturday games would be handy for when dads visit us.
    5) Ideally the satellite will be able to work with Windows Media Centre, but
    6) If receiver to MCE is not possible, the receiver itself must be able to record stuff.

I'm genuinely interested in the technology side of getting stuff working and have learned a bit about LINUX and networking as a result of setting up the DBox - and after we move I'll have sod all money so all the time in the world to play with it! Any advice as to which dish / receiver / software I should investigate?

    Cheers!

Bumping my own thread, any advice this time would be gratefully received because we're moving into our new home next month!

LJ's LIVE Sport site says there's plenty of foreign rugby on sat TV, channels like A La Carte and Canal+. Would a Dreambox 500HD or VU+ with suitable software installed be capable of decrypting it (Seca 3, Viaccess 3, Viaccess 2.5, Seca 2) without card?

For English rugby the only option is ESPN and Sly I fear so I will readup on CS... While I'm an experienced DBoxer for cable I suspect CS will be beyond a luddite like me so whether a DB/VU+ decrypts a decent amount of foreign channels will probably determine whether I put up a Sat dish or not.

Sorry to sound needy but pleeeeeeease if somebody could set me off in the right direction I'd be really grateful! There's tonnes of info on here about football but very little on rugby, please don't be prejudist against we fellas with odd shaped balls

Danny, thanks. Would a list of foreign channels that can be opened via CCcam or whatever be out of date a matter of days after it was posted? If so it sounds like I have to investigate CS then... Wish me luck!

buy cam i was talking about a diabo or dragon cam etc.

you load the keys on this via a programmer (it cost about ?150 ) waste of time and money in my opion

cccam and newcamd are cs protocols
