    American Terestial TV

If i wanted to pick up american tv channels would it be expensive and how would i go about it. ie would my sky dish be useless for such a project. I want to know if it would be worth the effort or the expense. Or even if i could would i only pick up east coast signals.

      I'll counter this:

The inclination angles are very close to the horizon, so it is unlikey that you will be able to receive a signal because the satellite is too low in the sky for you to be able to mount a dish as you will not be within the satellite's footprint area.

The orbital position of the direct-to-home satellites for North America means that they cannot be received with domestic satellite equipment.

Reception from these satellite will require a very, very large dish.

I'd stick my neck out and say if you got a 10m dish you'd receive programs from the DISH Network on EchoStar 3/12 at 61.5?W as well as a few other birds using the Conus beam

However a 10m dish is not domestic equipment..

Although Superman is right.. technically you could if you lived next door to this, hook a LNB on and ran some coax cable across..
