    What a good stb choice?

I will be buying a new sat box soon but I have a few questions.
First before I start let Me tell you that in a while I will be leaving for Indonesia, have been there before and had/have a sat provider now which the both of us are not happy with(provider gives more channels and charges more without notifying us).
I was thinking about the Technomate tm5400 but I want to know if this is a good choice.
It is a very sensitive tuner which I think is good but does this stb has a multicard reader or not?
And if so which encryption cards/systems can it decrypt.
As I told You I will be living in Indonesia later on and there might be different encryption systems out there.
I know there's videoguard which Indovision (provider on Measat 107.7E)has and Videoguard 2/Cryptoworks on Astro(provider on Measat 91.5E)uses.
Do I need a card reader for this to get into the Ci slot or can I do this with a softcam.
Again,I am new to this and its very difficult to get into all this "geek" stuff but I studied electronics and am very good with computers so I will get into it.
What size of disk I should get and would it be smart to get a very good low noise lnb(0.1 db)?
If anyone has some suggestions it will be greatly appreciated.
Thought about a dreambox but those are expensive, even the clone ones.
    Thanks Perry

    clone dreambox expensive..?? ?45.??

you wont get a cheaper box than a clone DM500S..

Videoguard = NDS.. official card only my friend.. no patches or keys open it..

You dont state what satellites you want here.. as for being in Indonesia a 60cms will do you for Indovision.. but for Astro you would need to use the stats below and choose your dish..

I dont think cardsharing is big in SE Asia so it looks like an official sub only for you my friend due to encryption being NDS and with this an official box

as for LNB's.. 0.3db, 0.2db or 0.1db will be fine

      Thanks Opsmonkey
      Well,I meant the higher enddreamboxes.
Where can I get a dreambox for that money,I think they are more on ebay then You quote but I'll try to find it for that prize.
      So,bad luck with videoguard.

Yup, I agree, wish though that the 5400 ran on Linux, than it would be a perfect candidate for what I want.
The HD products are still too expensive and I think I can't do that much with them in Asia right now.
I tried to find other Satellites on Lyngsat for that area(Indonesia) but sadly there ain't that many options like here in Europe.
All I want actually is a few channels like BBC international, CNN, National Geographic and Discovery and My girlfriend all the local stuff which is fta on a few Sats.
Looked at http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/optusc1_nanz.html and the small spot at 100? E and 10? S is very close to Java and where I live(Bandung-Java) but I think I would need a huge disc to recieve it, and/or a very sensitive lnb/reciever.

Hi m8 if your going 2 Indonesia, best first check out what bands your signels come down in.Also no-one here has asked on symbol rates. Are thay very high or very low in Indonesia???This could mean some receivers wont work??Check out what fec is used in Indonesia as well. You need 2 check that out before getting a sat receiver. Now thats good advice iv given, this will put you on the right track.

Aren't they clones too cause I looked on Tm's home page and I can't find them!
And,it seems to Me the TM 5400 has a lot more to offer exept (official)Linux.
                  It has:
                  DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3 (USALS) compatible
Super Sensitive tuner for very weak signals
Multiple switch types, LNB types and NTSC/PAL Monitor types
Last channel auto-saving and recall function
                  Antenna-positioning-help function
                  Fast Blind Search (power scan)
                  LNB Short Circuit protection onboard
                  and more.

The TM 500/600 doesn't seem to have all this and not a lot of connections on the back either.
My girlfriend bought a new LCD tv and I don't know if it has Scart on the back, have to check the model first.
Also, it seems to Me that all Technomates run on Linux but most of them you just can't access like the tm9100.
The reason that I am pretty sure they all have linux on them just slipped My mind,as soon as I think why I will post again.
                  Cheers Perry

Yeah I agree and thanks for it but if someone like Me just starts its all quite complicated even though I'm a technician at heart(My job is in industrial automation).
Can someone please explain the above or get Me a link to read about the above.
I already know lyngsat but they just give you things like Freq.tp-SR FEC SID VPID-Beam-Maps-Programs,I do understand Maps and Bands(C-Ku-etc.)Provider and Programs but there's a lot I don't understand yet but there's no explanation or Help on the site!
                    Is Mediaguard Seca/Astoncrypt?Can it be bypassed?Astro(Provider)on Measat 91.5 E
