Sky + without contract

My daughter has cancled her Sky contract, which means she can watch free to air channels but the Hard Drive doesnt work anymore.
The question is, is the box now useless or can the record facilities be turned on to enable her to watch the pre recorded programs and record free to air programs.

Only works if you have a paid sub of any sorts. No payments no Sky+ features.

Hi jackpot, dont consider making use of own property was hacking. Not after anything that isnt paid for, just ability to record free to air channels.

think it used to be ?10 a month for the sky+ features but you might aswell get atleast 1 package at ?17

We dont even allow hacking of Sky equipment. ( i dont think so anyway )

I Have SKY ?39 total.
The question was regarding my Daughter. who has cancled after 2 years.

And if adapting ones own property is "Hacking" then I am obviously in the wrong place.

its modifying.. its a rule.. sky are very hot on forums that offer advice on modifying set-top boxes or hacking of equipment like smart cards..

your own property or not its still an official sky receiver..

the web is littered with closed down and ddos attacked forums that offer advice on modifying Sky (UK, IT, D) equipment or offering cardshare advice, hence why its included in our 'not allowed' list..

Using Sky+ features without having Sky+ subscription would mean you modifying your box..

this is an excellent forum and area for advice.. if you dont like our rules i'm sure your browser will take you elsewhere

some 1 i know thought he owned his sky box it turned out the money he paid for it was for rental.
