Getting picture to always fill screen.

I am trying to get this box to output a picture that always fills the screen of my TV. At the moment on some channels it does while others it is letterbox. My TV has a "Cinema" mode which fills the screen nicely but is a pain as I must switch it off again to do the menu stuff and such like, it enlarges everything.

I have looked at the installed auto-resolution plugin but that doesn't seem to do much, and not what I was wanting.

Is there anything I can do?
