Swapping Sky Q 1TB box for 2TB box

Just wondering if this can be done.

I have Sky Q 1TB, I recently purchased a 4K TV then realised my Sky Q box does not have 4K support.

I was chatting to my neighbour about this and he then went on to tell me he has a 2TB Sky Q box with 4K support but does not own a 4K TV and doesn't record anything and suggested that we swap our boxes over.

Can this be done just be swapping the boxes and the cards or have Sky implemented some sort of mechanism to block this as I know once my deal is up I need to return my 1TB Q box.

Your best bet is to phone Sky, I'm pretty sure that Sky retain ownership of the Q boxes, so you would need their consent.
