If you find out your latitude/longitude from dishpointer the general rule would be to use the nearest sat to your longitude (e.g. -6.0 would be 6w so find the nearest sat to 6w). Use
LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite to help you.

5w you could use NRJ Paris 11096V 29950

      8w you could try Ishtar 11070H 2100

Just make sure you use a FTA channel when fine tuning.

      Good luck.
yeah ok mate so im in belfast dishpointer said
      Latitude: 54.5756?
      Longitude: -5.9278?
so wat would be my ref sat i use? i couldnt find it in the other site

your due south sat would be 5West but you can still use 1West if you prefer.put your latitude on the motor bracket 54.6N and the same latitude and 6.0W in the set top box.you can then send the motor to your chosen target sat while its still on the bench.

you will need an active transponder for the sat you are setting up on,input this in your motor setup menu to enable you to find your target sat. If using 1W 11.325H 24500 bbc world is a good one. if using 5W 11.591V 20000 france tv is ok.its no good scanning til you have a good quality reading from your target sat but the transponder must be active for you to get a reading. If all else fails connect up a sky box as that will already have the channels in but you will have to send the motor to 28.2E 1st with your other stb set on usals and use this as your target sat.at least you will regognise the programmes to confirm you are on the right sat and once you have tuned the dish in with the sky box you can switch boxes and scan 28.2E and you will have your 1st sat.

download a channel list (motor settings ) direct to the box and then you will have an active channel list and the sat positions/frequencys in the box ready to go. then send it to 1w for bbc world, peak the dish as best you can, evenly tighten the bolts and then your dish should move to the specific sat when you change channel.
