    English TV in Murcia Spain

    Hi All
I am totally confused, My mate has an apartment in Spain, he asked me if you can receive BBC1 etc from astra, I looked around on the internet and depending on who is selling what depends on what advice is given. I know that i will get the true advice on this forum so I ask the forum members
Can he achieve this if he buys the correct equipment, If so what equipment and has anyone done this succesfully

    All information appreciated.
    Regards
    Junger

Hi m8 yes it is possible...the most popular dishes on sale in spain are the portuguese famaval dishes, and a 2.4m at least is required...the good thing about these dishes is they can be extended to 3m if needed,by adding petals round the edge of the dish..and are quite cheap locally..and reports are they perform very well....stay away from the fortec petalised dishes,,as they are too hard to set up by inexperienced sat engineers, but when set up correctly perform well too...the andrews/prodelin dishes are just too expensive....next you need a good lnb for the dish...out of my trials with a 2.4m on nilesat i have found the invacom lnb to be the best by far outperforming the inverto lnb...you will also need a low threshold receiver for the weak signal...and again the reports i have read say the humax foxat fta receiver can still produce a picture when sky recevers/dreamboxes cant...good luck..

Hi Jungler, I have a place in La Mata thats around 40km north of Murcia I have a 1.3 dish and get most UK channels except BBC2 also ITV 1 goes off or starts breaking up around 9pm, my system is on a skyplus box I take my sky card over and it picks up many more geography/history fiver etc but not Sky Sports or Sky movies as these only work with the box thats registered with Sky.
Prior to that I used a Freesat bush box on an 80cm dish and obtained BBC News Sky news and lots of others around 40 or so but no C4 C5 ITVs or BBC1 and 2.
