        help

dont worry m8, just go back through what you have done and check each point
        1. is bracket plumb?
        2.correct elev on motor.
        3.motor set to zero
        4.enter usals long/lat
        5.select thor/bbc world
        6.drive motor to thor
        7. ajust motor left-to-right for best signal
        8. ajust dish up-and-down for best signal
        9. 75-90% signal quality on bbc world
        10. tighten all nuts on dish and motor
        11. sit back and enjoy

just went through...ive got on of those crappy sat finders that makes a noise that goes up in pitch along with a meter 1-10....the noice is at its highest now, the meter is at 10....when i shift left or rite, it goes away so i know the signal is there...still cant get a lock...

          my mutimap results are
          Lat: 51:35:00N (51.58328)
          Lon: 0:05:55W (-0.09853)

how do i put that into a dm600 as seen below
          long: 0.000
          lat: 0.000

those meters arent very good as they dont tell you which satellite you are on and will give a signal level on background noise. when i first started i had nothing i just put the receiver on bbc world and turned the volume up very high on the tv and ajusted the dish untill i heard a very loud noise coming from the tv then i knew i was on the satellite, i did this on a fixed dish and managed to get most satellites from 45e-45w, i know it seems like its not working but another way i tried was i set the receiver to say thor and put the dish in a certain position and did a blind scan then kept doing this everytime moving the dish slightly to the left or right and scan again. sooner or later you will pick something up and when you do ,check what channels are there and you will know which sat you are on and then you know which way to move the dish left or right, i know its not very good but i managed to fit my first motorised system doing this with a tm1500/80cm iss dish /0.2 lnb and digipower motor, its also a good way to learn and to know where the sats are roughly pointing in your area, if you are still struggleing in a day or two pm me and ill see if i can help you, .good luck p.s. does a dm600 have some sort of frequency scan or is it just txp based?

i think both,......in the last hour i got somthing...i set the stb to thor, then mesed about with the dish, then i was following that crappy meter but then i disconected it and fiddled with the elevation then i got bbc world news working....now a few sats lock....only problem if im not gettin the digitv package, thor finishes after only 140 services...i cant seem to get the snr to go past 88% its at 88 now and any direction i shift it(left, right,up,down) it goes lower instead of higher.

              so once again .....stuck

hi m8, if your getting 88%quality on bbc world and it goes down if you move the dish left/right and up/down then thats the maximum you are going to get with your dish but anywhere between 70-90% sq is fine so tighten your bolts up but be carefull not to move the set-up when your tightening the bolts and keep a eye on the sq so it doesnt drop. concerning digi-tv the transponders are probably not in the database so first go to manual txp scan and enter 12.607.h.27500.3/4 and switch the network search on and scan the txp, this should add all the txp,s in the digi-tv pack for you. if the network search doesnt work then go to LYNGSAT.COM and look up intelsat 10-02/thor 3/5/6 at 0.6/0.8/1 west, this will give you all the txp,s for digi-tv and so on so you can then enter the txp,s manually to get the digi-tv channels. when you have tightened your dish/motor bolts up send the dish using usals to 28.2 east and then 30 west and scan the channels to see if you get a good signal, if all goes well you might have to tweak your settings to get the maximum signal on some of the weaker satellites but you should get all the high to mid power sats with your system. good luck m8 and any more problems just ask. regards.

thanks alot for all the help Mdt, i got the digi pack now along with others on 1w....now thats sorted, i tried sending it back to 28.9E, 13E, AND OTHERS, and snr wont go over 65%....but onces i send it back to thor, its fine. so i believe my pole isnt plumb which then makes the dish/motor folow the incorrect ARC?? is that correct, you think??

                      installation woes

hi m8, if your signal is dropping off as you go to the extremes of the arc to the east or west then your pole isnt exactly plumb or the elevation setting on the motor is slightly out, the mounting pole only has to be out of plumb by a couple of millimeters for it to cause problems, ive had many problems fitting motorised dishes i had to go back to a job 3 times once to fix the problem. check that the dish bracket is central on the motor pole as this can cause problems if its not central.

could be mate the mounting pole must be 100% plumb check all round the the pole with an accurate spirit level if only slightly out you wont track the arc.

i think i will change to a scafolding pole and some K&Ts as im using a tripod looking set-up, which isnt all the strong in my opinion, but for now ill double check that every thing is plumb. all in all im strating to get the hang of all things sat...thanks to you guys after only switching from cable last week.

also can anyone school me about cards....what card can i but to open any other packages and on what sats
