    Hi folks,

Can you use Sky with a Virgin Media phone line or does it need to be BT?

you dont need a phone line when you ring them up tell them you only use a mobile and have no landline and dont intend to get one installed as your on a good mobile contract .
I've not orderd a ppv movie so dont know if you need one to order n dont intend to find out either

as far as I was concerned is that you need a BT line due to the fact that the box has to be connected to the Line for 12Months

The reason for this is because so that you dont take the box and card to another house and start viewing the channels

          unless its all changed now.

            no thats not correct.

the ONLY reason for the fone connection is it was originally part of the interactive subsidy. so for receiving a free box, you agreed to have it connected to the fone line for marketing and interactivity purposes.

the 'taking the box to another house' is only whenit comes to multi room.

the twenty five pounds is for a manual setup i just paid it and i dont have the phone connected it is used for diagnostics for you box and to purchase ppv
i have VM phone line it can be used but socket is in the wrong place and i dont want a cable routed all the way to the tele
but the engineer did say to buy a long extension cable and just plug it in if i need to buy films etc then disconnect it
if you just ring up to order a film then you pay 1? more for it
                hope this is useful

Had sky+ hd installed today and was assured that I'd be fine with no phoneline connected. It's just for box office n I won't have any issues. Hope that helps. My phone is vm

As long as its not multiroom there is never a problem with not having a single box connected to the phone line....albeit your contract states you should have
