a little help please

ok so i am a total noob when it comes to sattelite tv so i need some help.due to the iminent shutdown of all the pirate cable boxes i am looking into the sattelite route and i was wondering a:what do i need? and b:what can i expect to get channel wise?

I would get a DM 500s.... You get the most out of it if you have a router / broadband connection.

Card sharing cannot be discussed on this channel, I would suggest googling CCcam, and somehting that can be discussed on DK.

as flying pig says a dreambox is a good option (most common i suppose are the dm500s) but if you got a few hundred pounds lying around go for the new hd model .or even the 800hd pvr model if you want to record stuff. if you have a dish pointed at the sky satellite (astra/eurobird 28 east) you will get a lot of free tv channels ,4 x bbbc ,4 x itv ch4,e4,more4,film4,ch5, reality ,cbs action,cbs drama ,true entertainment ,true movies ,movies for men,horror channel,movies for men 2, and more also lots of free kids channels,music channels quite a bit to watch on there. connect up your box to your broadband router and you have more options. as flying pig says we cant talk about c/s as its against forum rules . try google and type in card sharing you will find a lot .

if i go the cs route will i be able to get sky sports and other 3pm football matches?

In a word yes. Now no more questions about cs please m8. Google is your friend. Theres plenty of sites that openly discuss it.

you can get all sky channels but not box office from the sky satellite with cs and of course all the free channels i mentioned above from astra/eurobird 28 east , for saturday 3.00 pm games you would need hotbird 13 east . so if you want both or more satellites the options are ,a single dish with 2 lnbs (giving two satellites ) and a switch to change between the 2. 2 single dishes that will give you the above .or a motorised dish which would give you quite a few satellites .
