    Oh No Not Again

how many times are the exact same questions going to be asked?

yea we all know cable is coming to an end and now everyone wants an alternative to the free tv they have been getting for years. however just imagine......youre not the only one to have asked these questions. and as such the answer/reply/advice may already be here.

now you may think who am i to be saying this. simple answer is i can say this because i can help. (or at least would like to help). i have my systems up and running for years now and although i dont know it all, i still come back regularly to HELP if i can.
however how can you help those that wont help themselves.
i mean its the same questions day after day. so when i click on the thread looking to help or even gain some knowledge, i see its the same questions over and over again, its frustrating.

i bet if there was a thread saying 'all you need to know about everything', some would still post a question 'where can i find out everything'
this is why some questions go unanswered for days and weeks and maybe forever. because even the thread started would have SEARCHED but only after posting.

i know i may be sounding like a grumpy old man, but come on people, play fair.

if you want to get started in satellite viewing....get a dish and a dreambox and either seek out cardsharing or get a sub.
get a motorised system to maximise your viewing pleasure.

dont ask about cardsharing in too much detail as its not allowed.

there are threads on installing a dish, setting up your box, adding bouquets and even how to get your epg (a good one) up and running.

if you cant get something to work (after searching of course) ask. no one bites (not even me) but dont ask a question that you can see at the top of the forum as a sticky or a question that already been asked. thats just dumb.

anyway...thats my mini rant over i think. next time i think the whips should come out.

      Cracking post matey.

I sometimes think it is too easy for people to come on here, ask questions, never even bother to explore threads and find out that there are invariably loads of times/ places where their issues have already been addressed.

Pure laziness I think. Anyway, well done mate. Keep up the good work.

yes felix we see it all the time, people asking the same questions over and over. It can get a bit tiring and sometimes people can be a bit scathing on the posters of obvious or frequently asked questions but to be honest we get all sorts of people on here and yes some are just lazy or impatient, but we also get a lot of newbies to forums. They don't know how to start a new thread, how to search or what a stickie is. So that's where the patience and helpful friendly nature of our forum members comes in.

It's quite simple, if members can't be bothered or they maybe just arn't in the mood then they can just ignore these sometimes annoying repeat questions.
someone will normally point the member in the right direction and help them find their way..

A lot of other forums just give newbies a hard time. We try to be patient and helpful on here.

I know exactly how daunting it can be when joining a forum for the first time. Cause this was the first forum I got involved with nearly 2 years ago and I've learned a lot about forums in that time. When I joined there were not that many members but everyone was freindly, pleasant and very helpful. If I didn't know how to do something on the forum I would just ask. Once I knew how to do stuff I started helping others.

So a big thanks to all you guys and gals that go out of your way to help others whether it's to help someone fix their boxes, or cars, maybe bye posting something of interest or a joke or those who welcome or help new members find their way. That's what makes DK so popular I think.
        so well done to all

When we first started off here near the begining we never use to tell people to use the search button like other forums do hence our success. Instead we would sit And do the searching for them And link them or write out the advice again. We cant change the way we run here that may And probably will hinder our success.

Read the Rules here; they apply to Everyone.
