jumping ship from cable to satellite...

hi all

im kinda new to satellite so apologies in advance if i ask any stupid questions.

my 1st one is very simple;

i was on cable and since v1rg1n are rolling out n4gra3 im considering satellite. however before i do i just want to know something.

after speaking to a few friends and doing some research i signed up with v1rg1n on their most basic package, purchased a ITGate tgm200 box, plugged it in, done a scan and hey presto i had all movies, sports, asian channels etc.

can i do the same with a linux satellite box? i.e join s*y on their basic package, purchase a box and dish with all other neccessary equipment, plug it in and get all the channels...?

from what someone on a cable forum told me is that it's possible somehow. i undertstand that the is a encryption on s*y called NDS just as there is nagra3 on cable. thats all i know at the moment !

No Sly UK isnt hacked at all, you simply cannot buy a box and plug it in... There is a workaround with Cardsharing (CS) but you cannot discuss this on this site at all.

You can google it as their are sites which allow talk of CS, google cccam and do a bit of reading.

Linux boxes are the way forward anyhows.

Just pay for the full sub then mate.

Thats the only way your gonna see the channels unless you use CS.

dont join a commercial payserver, get together with 4 or 5 friends and share the sub between you
so its back to google

with all due respect mate. your werent paying for cable tv. you were stealing it.
i suggest you look more into cardsharing as been advised. as if you and all your mates that had cable club together you can make it worth your while and get loads more than cable ever offered. AND the satisfaction of knowing you are in more control of your boxes than you ever where with the cable boxes.

the cable hack was never going to last forever and to be honest i think most are surprised it lasted this long. especially after it became virgin.



get urself a sub. get a box. sling up a motorised dish and watch all the movies sports and pron you want. as well as 3 pm kick offs if thats you thing. plus some PPV too.

lmfao couldn't have said it better already waved good bye 2 my euro gave it 2 my miss's to use in bedroom until the switch off day comes so no disappointment 4 me when it happens cable drools and satellite rules

p.s cs is well worth the time and effort it takes to setup ull be amazing with the 1000s of channels compared to the hundred or so cable offers

i put my 1m up a couple of months back in prep for the switch off, and tbh the cable box hasnt been on since!

also i expect the sat section to get very buisy on here over the coming months. thing is its no walk i the park and takes a lot of time and effort to keep it running, but its worth it when your watching your team live at 3pm saturday.

Coming from sat its a bit more complex then just flashing the box with some keys for N1. But I guess thats the fun part of the satellite hobby.

Nothing I enjoy more than tweaking the set up to get more out of my box or setting up my cccam. Read, and if you get stuck after that, read it again. If you still dont get it, give us a shout on here

But one thing you should understand is, you have no right to free tv. Cable was nice but thats finished. If you dont intended to pay full whack for your sub, still you will need to chip in a few quid if cs is something you are considering.
