What size dish for C-band reception of African channels ?

I have become aware of late that one can access African channels on various satellites, particularly the Atlantic Ocean satellites, on C-band.

Even though I can't install another dish, how big would a dish have to be to receive these C-band channels when you live in North East Wales ? I only ask this out of curiosity.

Any idea ?

Depends which you want. The footprints are located on LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite Pick the satellites you want, and then click on teh beam, on the right hand side to see the footprints.

I wouldn't mind as comprehensive a system as possible; I'll check on it later. C-band absolutely astounds me - pity the dish has to be massive to get what you want. :-/

c-band

hi m8, for serious reception of c-band you would need a quality 1.6-1.8 meter dish but if you were just after experiments in the back garden you could get a 1.8 meter petalised dish from maplins and although people have tried these dishes for nilesat@7west with poor results in the ku-band., c-band is more forgiving. you could probably get decent results with a good 17k c-band lnb on 1/5/8 west. i dont have a c-band set up im just giving my opinion on what ive read. regards mdt

I know very little about C-band but am I right in understanding that its signals have a better chance of withstanding bad weather than Ku-band ?

I just thought something - I think I would need a different LNB from what I would use for Ku-band; am I right ? Is it readily available in the United Kingdom are would I have to import ?

you can get them over here but they arent cheap, if you really need one for experiments ive got a brand new one you can have if you pay the postage.
