Newbie Sat Question -what can a Cam do?

I'm looking for help. I have just started using my old Sky digital satellite dish with a cheap FTA receiver and a motor. Can pick up Astra at 19, 23.5 and 28.2 and Hotbird at 13 E. Al getting all the FTA channels but am wondering if I can get more with a better box. Have seen lots of threads on technomate and Dreambox etc. What do they do? Will I get more channels if I invest. My girl friend is Spanish and hence would be keen on getting Spanish stations off 19E.

Any sports would be great but do not want to go bakc to Sky. Any help would be appreciated.

Linux box such as the Dm 500, Eagle TM500.

Google Cccam and Cardsharing. We cannot discuss cardsharing here so you will need to do that work elsewhere.

A properly setup system wil get you access to all the SPanish channels on 19 east and 30 west.

Thanks. I'm looking at a TM 5400CI + USB. Would this be a good start?

hi m8, forget about the tm5400 as theres not going to be any major packages via emu/keys when digi-tv@1 west goes to n3. if you want a box that you can basically plug in and get you the spanish channels on 19.2 east aswell as a load of others then look into a protek/maxx1000 or a spiderbox which can open channels via a broadband/router connection. a tm500/600 and the dm500/600/800 can also do the same but these boxs take a fair bit of getting use to and to get a s***** connection you have to have a card of your own to share/swap with other people or use a pay s*****., there are stableb free s****** around but these are few and far between and you would be lucky to get a line for one. take a look at the posts about the dm/tm linux boxs and look into the protek/spiderbox stb,s and then make your choice and when you get stuck just ask on here and you will get all the help you need. regards mdt
