ITV to Return to PAY TV?

ITV's new chairman Archie Norman has hinted at the possible introduction of pay TV operations over the next few years.

Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Norman said the broadcaster may reconsider ways to monetise the specialist content on ITV. He is keen to execute a range of subscription propositions to combat the long-term decline in its core free-to-air business. However, he did not divulge any specifics.

The chairman has pledged to transform ITV within the next 12 months. Currently a wide-ranging strategic review of ITV and its activities is underway. Adam Crozier who will take over as ITV's CEO on 26 April will be responsible for implementing Norman's strategies.

ITV, which was previously in the pay TV business with its ITV Digital service, had moved to Freeview following the closing of the UK's Digital terrestrial Platform (DTT).

I read a while ago (think it might have been gmb45) that ITV were in talks with Sly about joining the subscription side of things.
