    Spiderbox gift channels

Do you recieve these channels for 12months and then have to subscribe? Any info would be great. Stuck between buying this or a protek 9600 . Thanks

The SpiderBox gift is valid for 12 months from the time you activate it (your choice when you choose to do this) after that (or before if you prefer) you can use the receiver as a client to connect to other third party servers that run CCcam.

Protek 9600's free server doesn't have a cut off date as such but it's not easy to use if these servers ever go offline, it will not allow you to connect to CCcam like a SpiderBox.

Something to be said for both, depends what you want, I would suggest the SpiderBox is the better of the two based on price and possibilities but both have their place.

They are indeed. You only receive what is on the server

How much will you be looking at to keep the channels after the 12 months is up?

There is no option for that, it's not a payserver, it's simply a gift for 12 months, so after that its assumed you will know enough to make your own arrangments and move on to a third party server, or even move on to another box if you wish... But the idea of this is it's a great entry into the world of sharing, it gives you something to go at (almost) out the box you've got 12 months of a gift and in the mean time plenty of time to learn about CCcam and clines and such, a great box for those who don't/won't want to learn all about Linux and Linux receivers. You may decide you want to go the next step after the 12 months and go for a fully blown Linux receiver, but for many they'll have no interest in this because the SpiderBoxes do all they need, again this is different people want different things, just depends what bracket you come into.

Is it possible to get the Spiderbox to use the gift channels and connect to other servers at the same time? Is it easy to do that?
I use Darkstar image on DM500S and it is dead easy so hope it is also easy on Spiderbox.

Yes you can connect to other servers at the same time as the gift no problem at all, the SpiderBox settings are all done via the on-screen menu, there is no FTP/Linux knowledge required, just your receiver and remote, and a USB stick also comes in very handy for loading patches/channel settings and now even games!

hi mate you can use the gift and connect to other servers but be choosey with them, there are now many spiderbox friendly servers use or test one of them first

ps if your used to setting up a dreambox with linux the spider will be simple

I don't own one but I just want to know what channels do you get on 16.0E and other satellite birds after the spiderbox's gift has expired?
I pursume there isn't any free server after 12 months, like protek receivers

Many spiderbox owners have had their boxes for well over a year now.
The 12 months 'Gift' has run out but service+ still works.
16e has Tring/Digitalb/Diema etc that work stable and fine on service+

If I understood you right those package digitalb & tring etc still open after the 12 months?
Is that correct? Do you mean cs regarding service +?
                          Thanks.

service+ is independant of the "gift" and will at the moment stay open after the expired date of nuevoxstream.boxes sold now cant connect to nuevoxstream anymore anyway.
as well as 16E which as manic01 has said has some good stable packages 30W,0.8W,19E and 13E also have lots of good service+channels.and with a softcam loaded you can also open bulsat on 39E.no c/s knowledge is needed just a broadband connection.I"ve had my 7000HD since last july and am well pleased with it,and must admit I only really use 13E,16E and 19e as thats where most of the film channels are.so if you are on a fixed dish you can get more than enough to watch with 3 narrow lnbs and a diseqc switch.

It was posted on the Spiderbox forum some time ago that they were looking at options to renew/extend the Gift, I guess that's what the Service+ is.
