nothing has changed as such, the english fta channels are still broadcasting from astra2/[email protected] east. you need to eliminate each possible cause. eg. the lnb is faulty, cable, connectors, the dish alignment then the receiver.
if the receiver isnt faulty then check the menu,s and make sure your set up for a single satellite with no 1.0/1.1 switching and the lnb is set to universal 9.75/10.6. regards mdt

You dont say where you went away to. Some of the caravan set-ups only use a very small size dish(also something which you did not mention) I ve seen some advertised with dishes as small as 45 cm which are ok in most countries as long as you are using that countrys sat. If you are in UK and point dish correctly you should have little or no problem with astra, however if you went to France with your 45cm dish astra reception could be reduced. Your lack of detail is hampering your chances of getting a reliable reply.

thanks for both of your replys, first when i bought the kit i set it up at home,,,,west midlands....i nailed it to a try,,,,used the ear piece to line it up,,,and got the channels no problem.when i went on holiday it was only 50 miles away,(derbyshire
)...so i wouldnt think the distance would be a prob....and as for the set up,im sorry but i didnt get any correct details.but got both astra dishs with very good strenght,i also tried to tune into different tp channels but still no joy,,,,,oh and the dish,it is a small one would say 2 foot wide.....many thanks pab

Pablo, your dish is 60cm and is adequate for the two astras @ 28E. You can find the transponders from either Lyngsat or Flysat.com. It may have been that the second time you were not focused on 28E OR you were picking up another,ie ,the wrong satellite. 19E and 13E have strong signals and both carry some similar transponders to 28E,. so you may have a good signal but it is coming from another sat. If there was houses nearby you could see where their dishes are pointing (most are pointing to 28E) or if you had a compass then that would help. Your receiver should have the means of having it`s own tp lists installed-at least for the major sats or you can probably insert any missing tps for 28E by looking in the menu of the receiver- probably under sat. instalation. The sat hobby is all down to trial and learn and you should consider that in the East to West sky where you are there are about 55 satellites-33 or so, of which carry TV. If yuo pick up anything on the dish and it is German then you are most likely on 19E so move the dish slightly to the left try slowly slightly up and down as well bearing in mind that it takes 3 seconds for the sat signal to reach your dish. Hope this has been of some help to you. Dont hesitate to ask again -we were/are all in the same position . Best of luck. PS. Your 60cm dish is also adequate for several other satellites-if you are interested-and maybe thats why you could have been on the wrong sat.

if you are moving around the country with your caravan you have to retune your tele to the area you are in ie yorkshire worcester derbyshire home counties as all areas are differnt to your home area so just re scan your tele then all is well
