According to the feabay info it looks like this device will work with your dm500. What are you hoping to do with it once it is connected to your pc and router?

Your dm500 only needs to be connected to the network throuh your router all the time and only needs to connect to your pc for setting up the configuration for c/s.

How the hell does this thing work?

Does it connect into the back of the DM500 and make it wifi...

I dont get it.. how is this any different from using a wifi pc/laptop connecting to router then through ethernet to DM500

I know it obviously does something other than that but I cant make sense of the info on that listing, I mean "This device allows you to connect any fixed wired network device to your wireless network" and "Once setup is complete the Blue and Orange LED lights on the Wifi bridge will flash, now you can disconnect from your PC and connect to any device that is currently hard wired to your wireless router".. hows that make sense if the device your trying make wireless has to be hardwired to the router anyway

Can someone paint me a picture of how this works and what is does.. will it do c/s from a DM500 in one room with router in another room through wifi

I was assuming that his dm500 is too far from his router for him to use a wired connection to his box so he is looking to use this device in the RJ45 port of the dm500 to connect it to his wireless network. Once the dm500 is connected to his network he can c/s his dm500 though difficult to say what the quality is like with wifi. @Westkill apologies for c/s discussion delete if out of order.

It's just a wireless bridge, you first set it up on a PC so you can enter details of your network, wireless password etc. Once it's been setup it'll remember these details so you can disconnect it then connect it up to any device that has an RJ45 port (like a Dreambox) and as long as you are in range it'll connect to your wireless network.

It looks like it can be powered from USB, but for receivers such as the DM500 that don't have USB you'll also need to use an external power supply to power it up.

It's just another alternative to a wired connection or homeplugs that use your mains wireing in your house to send the signal round. Being wireless it is prone to the usual problems you can get with wireless, but in a lot of cases it'll probably work fine.

So it does make a dm500 wifi enabled... by going through its RJ45 jack then using wall plug power

Ive seen those things that use your houses internal wiring in the walls to network things, I actually forgot about those things, suppose I could use that to hook my DM500 to my router..but is that how this works, by doing that.. or is this just like putting a wifi usb stick into a pc/laptop and its fully wifi once setup or odes it rely on the house wire network thing

Sorry to sound so dumb... I honestly would buy this but I just cant understand it.. I thought it was designed just like a usb wifi stick is and once setup it would just connect to the dreambox and make the dreambox wifi.... but what is all the installation info on about saying once setup on the pc it then connects to a hardewired device on the router.. why?.. cant you do that anyway to anything hardwired to a router??

Say Im holding this thing in m hand now and its all setup from pc, and I just want to connect it to my dreambox and switch my router on then go on the DK server to get some plugins using my routers net connection... that would mean nothings hardwired to the router except the BB wire .. how would this work if it says in those instructions It connects to stuff hardwired to the router... I really just dont get it

Yes you've got it, it will make a Dreambox (or other items) into a WiFi machine... The instructions and reference to the PC are just for your very first setup, so you can set it up and so it knows your wireless key (password), you'll only need do that once, after than you can plug it into any device that has an RJ45 port and use it to connect wirelessly.

When you plug it in to a Dreambox for example you'll only be using the USB connection to provide power, if your Dreambox doesn't have USB then you'll need to plug it into a mains adapter as well.
