    Absolute noob

Sorry if this has been covered before, I checked some of the similar threads but none of them answered my questions in detail.

I'm a dab hand with Eurovox but haven't got a clue about satellite.

My first question is, what components will I need?
I'll be looking for a HD receiver if you can recommend one, I've been made aware of something called an LNB, but have no idea what it stands for or what it is. Then I'll need a dish, but what model and what size? As well as a motor, I don't know if that is separate or comes with the dish.

These are the kind of details I need to know.

Secondly, what channels are picked up via the satellite?
Do you get any of the foreign sports channels and what about S**?

Anyone who could spend some of their time explaining this in detail would be appreciated!

I've seen a few Triax packages, dunno if they're any good. Can basically put the satellite anywhere on the roof, where do I need a good line of sight to?

What does 'cs ,foreign' mean for S**? and the thing about cams opening up channels on HD boxes, I haven't a clue what it means so you'll have to put it to me in plain english mate.

Thanks for your help though. So can you get the same channels as you could get on eurovox for example, I've seen people talking about comedy central etc.

Well everyone by mine puts their satellite dishes on the back fence in the garden so I'm supposing that's where it'll be going.

What about the channel questions I asked, any idea on them?

Remember all the channels you had on your Eurovox well you need to multiply that by ten and that should give you some idea of the number of channels. I should also add that if you can remember how much effort you needed on your Eurovox to get those channels than you are going to need about ten times that effort on sat.

Dish size, dont go under a meter in size in uk.Receiver wise i guess its what you want it to do,there so many.Azbox is linux & is the only receiver that will do 4.2.2 stright from receiver(no net needed).vu+duo is being talked about alot atm,but iv not had my hands on one yet to test.

No net needed, so the others require internet to be hooked upto them?
