Are most DISCQC motors the same?

Hi all, am after my first motor for my satellite system.

    Have come across a few.

    Technomate 2300
    SLX 2823
    Maplins own brand
    Stab HH 90
    Moteck

    etc etc etc

They all appear from the outside to be in exactly he same casing etc.

Are these all made by one manufacture and re-badged or are there some real benefits buying a particular brand?

    many thanks

Nope they are not all the same, they of course all should do the same job but they are not all the same inside (and out for that matter).

There are ones that support DiSEqC 1.2 and then ones that support DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS (also known as DiSEqC 1.3 or Go To X). Most motors these days are the latter and the better one to go for...

Also the other big difference between motors is ones that have plastic gearing against those that have metal gearing. For long term use, and especially on a larger dish you would be best advised to go with the full metal gears.

The couple we have are the Technomate TM-2600, this is the updated version of the TM-2300 and the difference is the full metal gears, we also do the DarkMotor Superior which is probably the best of the bunch, this is full metal gear, metal casing and faster movement than other motors.
