    Northern Ireland sky dish size??

what size of dish would i need for basic freesat in northern ireland?

i've seen many sites saying a 43cm might not work but some other sites saying they would be ok.

does anybody have any first hand experience on this?

Hi Sean, you should have no problem if you get a 60cm dish to be on the safe side, but if in the future you want to expand to other sats. maybe now is the time to go bigger with, say, a 1m motorised set up.

You may have problems with certain transponders with a zone 1 dish. Go for a zone 2 and all will be fine

for the sake of ease of install alone I would go for the zone 2 dish as you would have to fine tune the smaller dish more to peak signal.

I recommend a 90cm motorised dish, have it in Belfast here and gets thousands of channels without problems.
            Setup: 2x Dreambox 800HD | 3x Dm500S on Motorised dish Setup

Used a zone2 many of times on the north coast with no problems, now changed it to a zone 1 and get the same signal results, hope this helps seanmckeown.

What satellites do you reliably pick up with that?

                  Particularly beyond 5 West.

You do realise that this thread is 3 years old, maybe open a new one with the question you want answering

I saw that but I did a search and spotted a thread already existed and that the user I asked the question to has the same size dish as I'm putting up was on the forum tonight at 8:38pm.
