newcamd will work on older software versions but not anymore with the new software. if you go back to older software you will lose some of the free packages. regards mdt

I wouldn't take too much notice of what Sat Shop says. He only ever promotes the boxes he sells which give the biggest profit.

A very strange comment, exactly what makes you say this on this thread, I'm confused?

Just a general comment. You cannot be truly independent.

You have commented above which is fine but as a dealer you are bound to promote whichever is the best selling item from a profit point of view, in my opinion.

Just an opinion. You're not confused surely ?

I have both boxes and much prefer the Protek.

Sure you feel free to have whatever opinion you wish, luckily others will already know otherwise. My confusion was based on you posting this now on comments I made on a post well over a year ago, didn't really fit in with the thread at all to me, that was all.

Been reading thru this thread and found it interesting as I'm on the look out for a new box.
I don't need HD so I'm just looking for a decent SD box with gift, cheaper the better.

I have a Spiderbox box but since the troubles the channel list is not so good. Is the Protec list any better? My SATs are 13e 16 19. I have a Motorised system but don't normally move from 13e.
Are there any lists of the channels open on the 5000SD? ( is this the Protec box) If not which is their cheapest box.
Is this box still available? How much does it cost and where could I buy one.
                                Thanks

MDT mentions the maxx1000 is this any good? It seems to be the cheapest at around ?85. Does it get all the Protec channels?
