    1m steel or aluminium.

I am about to purchase a satellite dish for a motorised setup. I dont want to go over 1m and the dish must be black. What is the best black dish money can buy for 1 metre. (and needs to be wall mounted) I have looked around there are mesh steel, aluminium see through etc....

I can understand that the lighter the dish the easier it will be on the motor. But what dish is best for signal strengh ?

The orbital 1m steel dish is cheaper than the orbital 1m aluminum dish. But which is better quality..... should I be even choosing orbital...... please help a newbie to satellite....

I have even read that some makes of smaller dishes recieve better signal quality than some makes of larger dishes....

for info I am located in the UK Midlands..

    please help thanks SIV

Dont think there is a "right" answer to your post mate as people will have their own views on what the best dish is. On a similar price level to Orbital the Gibertini is meant to perform very well (aluminium).

I done a lot of reading before going for this one as I particularly wanted to pull in 26e Badr 4 for football. Guy that installed it mind was ~~~~ing useless. Redone it myself and pleased that I can get every sat I am meant to for my area and some you aren`t really meant to - including Badr4.

    Hope this helps.

I have an aluminium Gibertini 1m.
Its a fine dish ,very well made.
As its aluminium ,it wont rust unlike Steel dishes which will .
It isnt light though as the bracket on the back is made from stainless steel and it is very heavy ,the whole dish and bracket is over 2 stone.

        Hi bugaloo41
        Hows it going?
What size Gibertini dish did you get and where from ?
Just looking at all my options for my sat set up.
Can't make my mind up on what receiver yet.
        Cheers

I cant find any gilbertini dishes that are black or dark grey... The mrs does not want a white dish on the side of the house... (and no I am not going to panint it.)..

I dont think she realises how big 1m is. Anyway,, straying from the point. Can anyone recommend a dark coloured 1m ideally it needs to be able to pick up eutal sat and thor, for extra footie games that might be on. (least I think thats what the sats are called.

Kenny it was a 1m gibertini which i purchased from here - cheapest I could find anywhere for the Gib.

            Cardmania - Dishes

They come direct from Hisat though who are the uk distributors to the best of my knowledge for Gibertini dishes.

There are tons of receivers depends how much you are willing to spend. The Vu+ duo appears to be the dogs bollocks but its ?400. You can pick up a dm500s for ?50. For non linux you have the protek or spiderbox.

Siv why dont you just spray paint the dish? Any non metallic matt paint will do. Lead free matt car primer is meant to be good. Just dont use gloss and dont paint the lnb!

I have emailed Card Mania the only Gilbertini dishes they have are off white.. If anyone could recommend a black dish and a supplier that has them instock it would be greatly appreciated.
