Do Sky+HD boxes make a noise

I recently subscribed to SKY, i have noticed that if i have the volume low on the telly i can hear the Sky box make an annoying noise.
Does anyone know if these boxes have fans in to cool it down like computers and xbox's????

        Sky+ noises

The noises are normal for the box as it contains a hard drive which stores your recorded programmes, planned recordings etc. Mine tends to make the same amount of noise as my desk-top pc

Tip: Place a tea towel or rubber mat under the box, its stops the box vibrating and helps with the noise.

Does not effect the air vents so may help.

It all depends on the hard drive you install. You can swap it out.

Anytime and the 30mins rewind mean the box's HDD is always on the go.
