    image ghost on tv screen

curious problem i notice with the box connected to tv by hdmi cable and have also connected an onkyo amp with an optical feed for sound,if i want to use the pc or dvd i get a ghost of an image of what i last looked at on tv screen which seems to stop me using the pc or dvd.powering off at back of du+removes the image and allows pc or dvd to lock on signal.another thing i notice the fan is also running when box is in standby mode using power is it possible to default or stop fan or slow down when not in use in standby mode.

Which image are you using? Latest Dream Elite image 1.3.3 had the following bug fixes and additions (such as being able to turn the fan off when not in use). Make sure you use Dream Elite 1.3.3 F this is the very latest with a few additional bug fixes from below. If you are using PLi I don't think they have implemented the latest updates from the original firmware just yet, such as fan control and a cure for this 'ghost image' so have to wait for an update from PLi for that.... I'll be trying Dream Elite myself over the next couple of days so I can try out the DVB-T USB tuner

Dream Elite Vu+ Duo BH 1.3.3 Specifications:

Based on NEW Official release 4.8

    - New Bootlogo by Army
    - New Skin Beyonce F1 by matrix10
    - Fix "timer:waiting..." problem
    - Fix input event buffer allocation problem(no free fifo)
    - Update satellites.xml
    - Update kernel and drivers
    - Fix booting problem when there is no rtc at the front board
    - Fix video freezing problem in AC3 pass-through playback
    - Fix lagging problem when no satellite signal
    - Support 2 virtual tuners(vtuner0/vtuner1)
    - Support generic linux input device
    - Modify the dvb-core frontend header for easy backporting of usb driver
    - Fix 4:3 video mode problem.
    - Turn off FAN at stadnby mode when there is no channel recording.(Duo only)
    - Fix udev problem.
    - Change mbox-dvb-modules.bb to download driver from vuplus server.( ** All build trees are being moved to vuplus git server **)
    - Move kernel-module dependency to mbox-dvb-modules.bb from initscripts-mbox_1.0.bb
    - Clean up udev-static-devices
    - Internal test routine is added to e2
    - Fix framerate information(20100603 driver)
    - New Dream Elite Usb Tuner Panel
    - New Check for correct image in flash
    - New Dream Elite own pathed kernel
    - New Usb Tuner Panel for drivers donwload

    Meoboot Removed:
Meoboot have been removed becouse of stability and performance reasons. We think that in Vu+ Duo is better to have Dream-Elite image directly in flash and to not use multiboot systems that should cause kernel conflicts

you mention the dvb/t tuner is that for irl or are you using that in uk,or is it like a tuner in tvs for aerial use with mpeg4?

There are only 3 USB tuners that it supports (or at least confirmed as working), the one I'm using is the HAUPPAUGE WinTV Nova-T USB Tuner (PC World have on web offer at the moment ?22.97 including delivery!) which is confirmed as working 100% here in UK (also tested in Italy by Dream Elite team), not sure if this would work for Ireland or not, if not maybe the other couple it supports would?

Once setup it works just like an internal tuner, you can zap between tuners, record from, EPG working with most channels, all for ?22.97, excellent!

Should just add of course this is only a DVB-T tuner so it'll only work with SD channels, not HD, but still it's ?22.97!

Just come across a post on another forum from a guy called stanley1, copied below, think this answers your question about Ireland:

Installed Hauppauge Win TV Nova USB stick here in Dublin Ireland (mpeg4/dvb-t), pulling in all test channels including HD, picture quality is excellent but lipsync is way out, tried stick on laptop and lipsync is perfect, maybe VU can issue fix in next image release. Using DE 1.3.3F

              Fix image

I know that atleast in the VTI image there is an option to adjust the sound(delay).

There is on them all as far as I know but I'm not sure it'd cure this problem unless you can set it per channel (don't think you can?) because you could delay it for the DVB-T tuner but then you'd put the satellite feeds lip sync out I'd imagine.... Sure this is the sort of thing they'll sort out in no time though.
