some help/advice for a newb getting into sat please

Hi,about a year or so ago I purchased a dm500s and then re-sold it as I didn't fancy cs,(it looks like a pain to set up for a newb to sat like myself)I have been thinking about a sat system though for around a year but i am just dumbfounded with all the different options.I would like to get 4 boxes for my family with some entertainment channels, movie channels and live footie channels. This maybe a dumb question but say you have a motorised dish it can only be pointed to one sat at a time so if you had 4 boxes would you not then require 4 motor dishes if each box wants the options of all sats?would a motor system pick up freesat(seems like a good basic channel list)?is it possible to get a fixed dish pointing to a few sats?what fta channels can I get?what sats have the best channels etc?can anyone give me some advice on what kind of stuff to look into?(pms welcome)cheers all!

if you want 4 boxes to recieve all the available sats independantly you would need 4 motorised dishes.(planning only allows 2 dishes 1 up to 1mt and 1 up to 60cm.)you can also fit a quad lnb to feed 4 boxes on a fixed dish to all receive the same sat but with independant channel selection.
a motorised dish will pick up freesat on 28.2 E(line of site permitting)
you can use 1 dish to get several sats using several lnbs providing they are not too far apart.there is also a speciallised dish a wave frontier that is supposed to do this without signal loss.
28.2E,19.2E & 13E are among the most popular sats.
I"d have a good read up on the subject before spending any money so you are sure what you are doing.

thanks dick b, that wave frontier dish looks great.if it is possible to feed 4 boxes with independent channel selection from it then I think that would be the way to go for me personally(4 seperate dishes is out of the question).I have been wanting to get into sats for over a year now but I do need alot more info on it.my sis has a friend involved in sats so I am gonna have a talk with him and hopefully he can point me in the right direction.cheers!

        Me thinks it is 1x 1m + 1x 80cm in most places

national planning is 1x 1mt and 1x60cm and strictly speaking you then have to remove any terrestrial aerials but few do.If you live in a conservation area or own a listed house you need to apply for planning consent.
