    how does all this work?

    hey guys

Completely new to this scene as I was with cable. But looking for new ways now thats down the tubes.

    So

    Whats the deal with satelite?

Do you still need a supcription?
    or

is it get a dish, box and flash it with relevant firmware

AS you can tell I dont have the first clue about all this. I read posts but dont understand the workings behind it.

Whats the deal with pointing the dish at certain angles?

is there some sort of guide?

Different providers, broadcast from different satellites. Its not only Sky that exists.

No, if you get a subscripion you will only be able to view what you pay for. Unless you share that card. Google "cardsharing talk" or "cardsharing".. We dont do that here.. There are about 25 satellites viewable from the UK, this is why we have motrised dishes to move through these.

what channels are you looking for, can be easy, just depends what you want. most people i know started with fixed dish at sly, then moved on to more after that, fixed dish at sly is simple.
