need help for my motorized dish please

Hi all, I have finished installing my new dish+motor, I have been following guides and advices that I found here in DK, but now I haven t got a clue if my dish is ok or not.....

I have a technomate 5400ci, 1mdish, technomate motor and a quad lnb (0.1db) installed all by myself.....problem is that these are the signal quality that I get :
    12.5W Atlantic bird1 66% (and abou32channels)
    4.0W AMOS1/2 23% (no channels)
    1.0W THOR2/3 78% (on BBCnews)
    13.0E Hotbird 98%
    19.2E Astra1 90%
    28.2E Astra2 88%
    39.0E Hellassat 78%

I must say that I am still using usals and I havent tried yet fine tuning, and I think my dish has got my next door neighbour's home on its line of sight so no satelites on W after Atlantic bird1 at 12.5W.
Another thing that I am not sure is that when I have aligned the dish at the beginning to 1.0WThor I did get 80% quality signal on BBCnews channel and only 58%on Private Spice(uhrhr- only for educational purpose of course) so the picture breaks up frequently on the last one.
Any advice for a newbie like me?Is it normal that the signal quality on one satellite drops of 10-20%beetween channels of different frequency?
Many thanks to all the people that posted in here guides on how to install a motorized dish, they are very good and easy to understand.
    many thanks
(previusly posted in wrong section sorry for repeating but no answears)

firstly, well done m8! as for your questions well if you have got your wall mount 100% plumb and your lat/long on the motor and in the usals mount are correct for your location then you might need to fine tune your system a bit. as for your signal levels., different satellites have different beams so this could also explain the differences in readings. to peak your signal you could adjust your lat/long numbers in the menu,s by small amounts (00.1 +/-) to see if it helps and you could also try moving the lnb forward or back in the holder as this can help also along with the skew (left+right).
if you cant recieve any satellites past 12.5w then you are not missing much apart from hispasat@30w. just keep trying to fine tune your system and with a bit of patience you should get it right. regards mdt

Hi mdt and thank you for your advices....a couple of things I didn t understand well : first is skewing of the lnb, I tought I had to have straight faceing down when aligning the dish to thor ?
Second : I found that I have differences on readings on the quality strenght on the same satellite for different channels (could vary up to 20% difference) This is happening only on 1W thor.
Many thanks for your help mate

hi, the reason there are different signal levels at 0.8/1w is because there are 3 satellites , each one with different beams. the thor5 and thor6 satellites have very strong beams but the intelsat 10-02 is a bit weaker but with a correctly aligned 1 meter dish you should be fine. as for the skew you need to turn the lnb anti-clockwise about 1cm (-18*). while facing the dish. if you used bbc world to set your dish elevation and motor azimuth then you could still be a little out as 11.325.h is a strong txp. hope this explains it a little m8. regards mdt

          many thanks

you really need to get the best posible signal by ajusting the motor azimuth and dish elevation. i use these txps to maximize the signal. 11.247.v/11.325.h and 12.687.h/12.687.v when you have done that try ajusting the lnb skew and position to improve the signal again. lastly you can try to improve the signal by ajusting the lat/long settings in the menu., just take your time and only make very small ajustments when ajusting your dish. regards mdt

i had similar problems when i set mine up (technomate 5600 with a tm2300 motor and 80cm dish)
i set it up on thor (bbc world news) got perfect pic
then moved to 4.8w (hustler tv) and the pic was blotchy and freezing, i found that adjusting the elivation very slightly up cured the problem
only got some issues with not getting anything on amos
and the later end of west .

                Help with motorised dish

Your dish setup looks OK to me ~ yes! you can improve this with a lot of fine tuning your dish ~ forget about Amos ~ your dish is too small for reliable & regular reception ~ be happy with what you have and what you can get from the east in the future.

Thanks all of you for your useful posts....I must say that I did have a quick attempt on moving the lnb but without luck, so I put everything back as it was.
I do have the same problem with Amos with 1m dish no good signal at all when all the others have at the very least 65% at the moment.
Thanks to mdt I will try to fine tuning the dish with the frequency that you posted for me - just a quick question, those frequencies are for thor isn t it?
Many thanks to all for your help

hi m8, the first 2 are for thor 5/6 and the second 2 are for intelsat 10-02 which is a bit weaker . use the first 2 and then fine tune on the second 2. regards mdt
