    Multiroom without the Subscription

I have a full Sky package - but would like to watch TV in the bedroom (move card from one box to another). I would like to view my premium channels but I am loathed to pay a multiroom sub as all I want is to watch in the other room when I go to bed. I know that boxes have to be paired with cards. I don't want to use a video sender or connect via RF.
Would the above be possible with a non-Sky sat receiver such as Dreambox. Or does anyone know if there is a way to Spoof a normal Sky box settings so that the card believes that it is in the right box (maybe a program to change the serial via null modem).
    With thanks lufcboy.

Yes a dreambox will do the job just fine, dont think you can use another sky box as you cant pair it and i dont think there is any way to mod them.

You will need to get your box number, loads of info on here or the net for doing that.
Then enter that box number in CCcam.cfg and use a dreambox in your bedroom.

You can get a dreambox 500 for about ?50 now.

If you have/want HD then you will need a db800 and these are about ?200 for a clone or over ?300 for the real one.
Clone is better than the real one ..

you would need at least 2 linux boxes ... 1 with the card in ...

and 1 for each room you want to watch tv in ... all connected to your internet.

There is also another way to do it as well... AlunFennel has posted about a device which shares your card with other receivers in the property. Although not sure if they are NDS compatible yet.

Correct, 2 receiver required. Sky box would be redundant.
Cheap video sender is easiset answer and work great.

I would agree, but a video sender is only useful if you want to watch what is on the TV downstairs. You cant watch 2 different subscription channels on 2 tv sets with a video sender.

Thanks for the replys - Had a video sender before both inexpensive and a good one well over ?100. Did not do it for me. All I want to do is watch my movies and sport in the other room. Not watching both at the same time with different channels in different rooms. All I'm going to do is move the card from one box to the other.

I have AEI digisender, works flawless and allows channels to be changed remotely as well as other av inputs.

You only need one dreambox.. Pair the dream to your card And whenever you want the card all you have to do is put it in And it will work in either box

This would be good... Hopefully this happens soon!
