    Linux receivers advice please

I have decided to purchase and learn how to use a linux receiver with the intentions of doing some of the things that cant be mentioned on here

I am a complete novice as to what to look for/avoid in a linux receiver.

I am on a limited budget upto ?150 ish (already got motor & dish set up.

I am not looking though for a cheap & nasty unsupported box.

Can anyone please advise me as to the best receivers in this price range I want some thing that is future proof.

I look forward to learning from your experience.

    Thanks Jim

As long as you dont want HD there are quite a few to choose from.
TM500/600 are good solid stable receivers.
DM500/600 are excellent as well but you will struggle to find a non clone DM500.
Support for the DM models is the best by far.
Eagle is good box as well with decent support as they all run enigma 1 so can use most of the plugins etc.
If looking for HD then you will struggle to get a poor quality clone DM for that money.

      Thanks for the reply

I have looked at the TM 500/600/9100 & I have read good and bad reports on them all.

I thought about a DM500/600 but as you say most of them appear to be clones which then lead me to think about the possiblities of loading genuine dm files etc on a clone and it killing the receiver.

I know I would struggle finding a HD receiver apart from as you say a poor quality clone so I would sooner buy good quality none hd to begin with.

      Thanks Jim

Images are ok on Dm'd as long as you don't load the Gemini images which have had a bootloader bomb built in.
Most sites wont host these files anymore.
Forget the TM9100 it's old now.
I have a TM600 and it's always been stable, others will always favour the DM's as they were the first.
At the end of the day it's your choice.
A TM500/600 is not a cheap clone thats for sure.

          Thanks for the info

I take it I could do exactly the same things with the tm600 & the dm600.

dont google CS . Google 'Cardsharing' or 'Cardsharing talk' something to them lines.
