Rewiring Coax Conduits

I finally got round to doing some of the rewiring.
As Glic had mentioned the wiring from the attic did not go directly down to the ground floor.
The points at which it came down in the attic were a good 5-6 feet away from the same spot on the ground floor.
For these points I just left the old brown coax cable in the walls as it would be impossible to replace ,and joined it to the new cable in the attic.
Oddly enough there was hardly any loss on the satellite signal at the tv point.
For the tv point on the first floor I decided to replace the cable so I did what barrowmanandrew recommended and taped the new cable onto the old cable in the attic.
Unfortunately for me when I was attaching the new cable I pulled the old cable up a bit too far so when I went down into the room to pull the cable down it was gone !
I will have to get some fence wire and feed a new cable down now.

I did say do this " If you are attempting the use the original coax as a "draw wire" to pull your new coax through the conduit, try pulling through a smaller diameter ( and stronger ) cable first, and then use that to pull the new cable through the conduit "

The method I was using would have worked as I had a solid connection between the old and new cable ,it was very tight.I did say do this " If you are attempting the use the original coax as a "draw wire" to pull your new coax through the conduit, try pulling through a smaller diameter ( and stronger ) cable first, and then use that to pull the new cable through the conduit "

The problem was that when attaching the new cable in the attic I pulled up the old cable a tiny bit too far so that it went up the conduit a tiny bit at the tv point end.
I cant get it back down now .
I will get some earth wire tomorrow and feed a new wire down ,I dont think it will be too difficult,I will just need to be patient.

Hi Fano, sorry did,nt realise that you had lost the original coax.Best then to pull it out completely up into attic and attempt to push earth wire down conduit, presuming that you have some space to work up there otherwise try to push up from below, keep the earth wire as straight and kink free as you can,if no joy try to use something more rigid like plastic mini trunking lid or some tying wire as used to suspend false ceilings or a proper sparks fish tape.Good luckComment
