I have the Protek 9600, which served me well last season.

But want to go HD this year, and after looking around am going to plunge for the Dreambox 800.

Cheers Jackpot. But for me, I want HD, Protek 9600 looks poor compared to Sky HD, Mrs though tthe TV was bust!!!

Was looking at the Protek and Spiderbox HD boxes, but looking around, have decided to go the Dreambox route!!!

Can someone tell me what the difference is between dreambox system and the spiderbox system is please? I'm very new to all this and seeking advice before i take the plunge. Thanks in advance

dreambox has been around years many teams develop images add ons etc,spiderbox is closed source software,comes with a 12 month gift but after the 12 months you will need to acrd share to open more channels,you cant talk about card sharing on dk so you will have to google it to find out more,if it was me id go with either a dm800, dm 500hd or either a vu+ duo or solo

If you're going for HD and Linux then would be the VU+ DUO for me without question.... I personally would avoid the DM500HD because there is STILL this problem with them not booting up (received one back from a customer just this morning), the DM800 is actually discontinued and will be replaced by the DM800-SE later in the year, the DM8000 is far to expensive, the VU+ SOLO while working fine (got one running here great) perhaps doesn't enjoy quite the support you'd expect just yet (it will come), so for me leaves the VU+ DUO, great support, twin tuner, great build quality, the most popular receiver in Europe right now, say no more!

The above though is just my personal opinion....
