signal vs quality

Hi guys

I have a 1.1 motorised dish that I have been using happily for the past few weeks until now I have attempted to get 16e for Tring stations but cant seem to lock on to the sat

when I search say Astra 28.2 I have signal of around 90 and quality of around 88-90 then I scan all done

When I play around with the freq on 16E I can get some quality but still no signal strength that I don't understand Iv been told that I should be able to lock onto 16e as I would the others and then scan and that my dish is probably not 100% on the ark

does this sound correct if so what sat's should I use to set up the dish and what signal strength and quality should I expect from them

any help appreciated

I think you need to setup on 0.8/1.0 thor.

you should get 16e fine espec with a 1.1 dish, i just did the same the other day (and for tring) are you using usals or diseqc1.2? it took me to use the diseqc 1.2 and the fine move on the motor /dish via the receiver as each slight movement can have a big impact on the signal and quality.and find out a transponder which you know is def work on that sat and use that to go off as some transponders are dead. i used the one which the tring package is on.and once on to it save it and do the scan.

hi m8..does your set up move between 1w and 28.2e ok ??? if it does your ark is ok....if not then you need to set it up again using 1w as your starting point....on a 1.1m where you are you should be getting between 80-90% signal quality on tring...i am getting 80% quality on a 90cm dish

I did set up on Thor and was happy but iv have been told because I cant get 16e properly even though I can get the others iv tried I'm probably not set up 100% correct

so I need to no what other sats to set up with and what signal strength and quality I should expect to receive from them

I did get an quality reading on I think it was 16e 11238 but had no signal strength but did pick up some Tring

but as i was told probably not 100% well iv started to mess

Your dish is not plumb.
You can get 1w and 28.2e and still be out of plumb.
Make sure bracket it plumb left/right front/back.
Thewn try again.

tvsh-sat 12.657V 4.882 or vizion plus 11.283H 27500 are good strong FTA channels to find 16E.

last few days on my 90cm dish i've noticed that SNR and AGC have been low with the rain on 16E check when its clear and not raining even though on my 1.1 snr or agc never change.

keep trying it will come, and you will be made up WHEN you get it right as it a good feeling setting your own system up.are you hoping to set tring up for the football season? if so you still have plenty of time on your side! like someone mentioned after all this rain as stopped try it again on a better (clear sky) day.it can effect the signal alot with the rain and storm clouds we have had of late
