    weird issue with dreambox 800hd

    good morning

i have a dm500s which works perfectly on my sat

i want to go hd and have recently tried 2 different dm800hd's (clone and original (4 different images)) both give me the same results, i lose over 70% of the channels.

the only hd channels that will work are bbc and itv, channel4 and five will not work, and then i lose almost every sd channel aswell.

the snr just drops to 0 on most channels and the ones that do work range from 50-70% snr, even with an inline amp too this makes no difference. i can plug my dm500 back in and its fine again. i'm in apartments so have a communal dish but have been told this shouldnt really affect things

i dont want to buy another brand of hd box such as vu+ solo in case i get the same issues. i would of thought the dm800s would just work.

i am going to try an original sky hd box later today which i should be able to recieve the freeview hd on. i'm kinda hoping it doenst work so i know i have signal issues or something but if it does work and i'm stuck again.

does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

    TIA!!

      Try a 13db\18db inline amp

Read the Rules here; they apply to Everyone.

it was my dm800 he tested it with , could it be that the dish is pointing at 28.5 and NOT 28.2 ? .

as we did a manual scan it went to 50/60% then stopped finding channels so the upper spectrum is blank.

i had a downloaded channel package (likra) when first pluged the dm800 in and the signal dropped to 0 , but if we plug the dm500 back in it worked ok .

I took the dm800 back home on my NON communal dish at it works a treat .

so it must be the communal dish that is at fault.

        what do you think ?

          cheers karl

the inline amp i have is a 13\18db and it didnt make any difference

ive just tested my original sky hd and that recieves all freeview hd so i assume it'll recieve the premium hd once activated.
the signal on the sky hd box seemed quite low though, around 50% maybe abit under.

i am now at a loss as to why the 2 x dm800s fail to work here.

          any ideas ?

the tuners in the dm.s are most likely a little less sensitive than the sky + boxes 505 is still not very good and you picture will be gone when it rains.

looks like you will have to put up your own dish

i cannot put up my own dish unfortunatley, id of done that along time ago
ive had breakup in the signal recently cos the weathers been bad.
i am going to have to try a spiderbox or a vu+ solo one of them has gotta work.
