    newbie to satelite

    hi guys

having spent many years on the cable front. it is time to change over to satelite for obvious reasons. anyways could someone tell me what is the best way to go about a motorised setup along with an hd receiver? i currently have a panasonic g15 freesat tv and was looking to either connect to tv or just use the hd receiver to acquire both. i also have my tv networked through dlna so is it better to buy a box that has ethernet connection or without? also what are the benefits of ethernet on sat box? do i need more that 1 lnb on sat dish for recording? im dont really want to install into different rooms however, i might like the option in the near future once i get the hang of things. your help and time is appreciated on this matter.

im not sure if your permitted to talk about which channels you receive but does the satelite option give all the channels that the cable version did and if so do you get the hd channels?

    kind regards

    Multi Satellite HD

    Hi kakawak m8
If you want UK HD & european programs the you need a 90cm dish with a diseqc motor and a Linux based HD receiver. The the satellites between 28 east & 10 west are the ones you need, although there are more satellites further east and west. The Dreambox 800 HD, DM500HD, QboxHD, CubeRevo,Vu+Duo and TM800HD will all do the job. Just browse the forums for information and all will be revealed. There are loads of tuts on setting up a diseqc motor system and a twin LNB with a twin tuner will allow you to record and watch different programs only on the same satellite. Once you have setup the dish & motor you can look to using cs as well. C*rdsharing talk is not allowed on DK so browse google to find out more about this aspect of Linux networked receivers.

A 90cm dish is preffered, but not necessary......you can survive on a 80cm...it depends where you are in the country.
There are at least 1 other decent satellite you may need to get, and that is 39 east, this will show bulsat, and they will be showing some live 3pm football this season ( Diema etc ) Also 30 west is showing some decent Tv
You do not really need a Linux based STB, you can use just a client based box instead....There are so many ways to watch satellite Tv.....there is a lot of reading to do before you decide what you want...
