    Motors and Usals.

About 2 years back I had a motorised system fitted. The enginere supplies all the kit. He gave a brief tutorial of viewing and moving sats etc, but said dont use usals. Never questioned it, and all has been fine since.

Have a Technomate 5400 super. Also have a protek, but use the technomate to drive the dish, then switch on the Protek.

Point is, am thinking of getting a dreambox 800 and wanted to use the usals function.

So, do all motors support usals? I only ask as the engineer said don't use usals, as he had set it up with diseq. I have no idea what the motor is.

If I were to drive it to 1west, then enter long and lat on Dreambox and set to usals, would this do any harm?

    Any advice???

it won't do any harm but may be off by the time you go acroos the arc dreambox's are not that clever when it comes to usals you are best driving the motor manually and storing the sats as you go.

if your motor has been set up using dis 1.2 then you cant use usals in the menu,s. if you really need to use usals you will have to ajust your motor/dish. regards mdt

sorry to dissagree but mine (dm800 using usals ) is spot on, tracks the arc and picks all available sats up no probs, .

Its pretty much hit or miss with dreambox's some work flawlessly and some not but from experience most dont track the arc very well

            Cheers all.

Will probably ignore the usals then. Been happy to use the diseq on my technomate these last 2 years.

            Thanks for all the replies.
