any advice on my satellite postion? no joy on astra 28.2 and past it

how do gents, just looking for bit of advice/opinions on my sat postion (as shown on pics). i get everything ok upto 19.2 east then a tree gets in the way.just wondering if it would be worth moving dish up a foot or so.as you can see the people who had the house before my had sky dish set up (which is higher up the pole) but of course cant go that high with weight, wind etc. any advice be great..many thanks

try Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com it might show you a better site.
looking at those pics Id say you could get more height but you will need stronger brackets coupled with a stouter pole, a scaffold pole is best an alloy one will keep the weight down.or if you can get the tree trimmed even better.

cheers dick b, yeah it council trees as it on the pavement on the front.i got them out to tidy it up etc, and to be fair did a good job.as you couldnt see the bt pole before.but it didnt make any difference to the dish.i have tried moving the pointer on sat finder but not mouch joy, and i guess was prob best place as sky must have set it up at some point i think.yes maybe that best a stronger pole and take it up a foot

Hi kyleb. As dick b mentions about the Spring and you may be back to square one...could you not put your motor on the sky dish and join your lnb cable to one of the free ones above with an f barrel connector?

hi pat thanks for reply. i have cut the pole down a bit (see pic where the black tape was on pole) with sky dish on as sly dish was ~~~~ed and didnt work, and glad i did cos it would really catch the wind and make the whole pole rock.and boy was it windy in the week!! so just the 1m dish up now.yeah spring be a prob again. would an inline amp give me that extra signal boost of astra as i getting a signal, but a weak one...cheers

I don't know if an amp would help but I suggest, now that the dark evenings are in,you do a bit of self pruning over the next 4 months-a bit at a time.

Buy a diseqc switch and use the other dish for 28. I think all receivers support it now so you wouldn't notice the switch happening.

drill some holes in the tree and pour in diesel.. that'll kill it then the council will be round to chop it down
