Best way to connect 2 dishes to one box?

This might be a bit of a newbie question but I have 2 dishes Sky & TV Cabo but only one cable going to apartment. I would normally just swop over cables in the loft to whatever the person renting the apartment requires and was thinking of installing a changeover switch

but was wondering if i am better using a splitter or another way or will it not work having both dishes connected to one receiver simultaneously?
