for what can be done nothing compares to the dm500 for the same price.

Nope..theres no other device that for the same price 50 - 60 Quid...that has the same capibilities or range of software images and support as a Dm500 clone.

Technomate Tm500 has been mentioned...but the software is rubbish on these devices, no support from any noteworthy teams only UR Team...not compatible with CCAM 2.1.4 in server mode (cannot read white card wthout NEWCS or MGCAMD), Widescreen dispaly bug etc etc..I believe it's also more expensive than a Dm500 clone..

You can get a Dm600 clone for around 80 quid these days...more RAM than a 500, PVR and swappable tuners, analog modem..might be worth a look.

The TM600 is an excellent stable pvr stb.
Never had a bit of trouble with it.
            Good support.
DM will always have more support as they have better teams writing images etc.
If you just want a solid stb non hd and works and does what it is meant to do then the TM500/600 is the biz.

Hi mate, thing is whatever linux box you buy,you don't want freezzing pic's on tv screen. To me this is the biggest problem with linux, some channels seem 2 freezze less than other's.

Normally uk channels can have freeze, most others always ok.
Now if you have good contact uk channels always ok.
