    help with sky +

    Hi

I am new to the sat scene. Coming from cable but due to nagra 3 I've moved to sky. I'm paying full subscription and would like advice on installing a box in another room.

Is it as simple as splitting the feed buying a Linux box and copying the card or is it more complex?

Could someone point me in the right direction maybe a supplier of good receiver and card copy device and a rough guide if.more complex steps are needed.

    Cheers

Firstly... You can't just 'split' a sat feed - each receiver/tuner needs its own feed from the LNB (part that sits on the dish arm that the cables connect to).

But as you already have Sky+, Sky will have fitted a quad LNB, meaning you've got two spare LNB outputs, so it's just a case of running a feed(s) from the LNB to receiver ( 1 cable for single tuner or two for twin tuner PVR)

Secondly... You can't 'copy' Sky cards. So if you were looking to go the Linux route you'd need two Linux boxes, one to act as a server, the other as client and use a method known as card sharing, which we're not allowed to discuss on here so you'd have use Google to find out more.

Could someone point me in the right direction maybe a supplier of good receiver and card copy device and a rough guide if.more complex steps are needed.

    Cheers
TBH mate, if you're only interested in Sky and only want it in one other room, then i'd just go for a Sky multiroom sub.
