Well the current Dreambox 800HD is nearly ready to be decommissioned when Dream release the new more powerfull DB-800HD-se next month, that will be the end of Production of the Current 800HD along with the support for that receiver over the coming months/Year.

Vu+ solo has a nicer price tag over the 499euro Dream has maked as the RRP for the new 800HD-se, so the Solo wins hands down on price.

To answer your Question M8, Forget the Current 800HD or clone (As there will be a big Bootloader push on Images with the newer models) As there is a big differance between current Hardware and the New Dreambox Models.

The Solo wins on Price to answer your question (Nothing more in my opinion)

Currently I have been using a New Dreambox 500HD running Gemini 5.0 and its the Best money I have spent on a Receiver in years, And I am sure there will be very little differance between it and the new 800HD-se next month, So dont totaly dismiss the New Dreambox range because of the Price differance between Vu+ and Dream....

is there any picture difference between the current dm800hd and the dm500 hd (with the more powerful cpu) and does the Vu+ do any better than these both. Iv got the Azbox and dm800 hd (clone). I like the picture quality of the Azbox but dont like the time it takes to zap through channel so I use the dreambox. I would like to get rid of the both and look to upgrade but not sure which to go for.

should do when I sell both the box and put the money toward one good one. I just don't want another Abox situation, promising so much and still yet to deliver . I'm done with waiting its time to move on.

Dont think it's hype, alot of people are happy with it. It runs enigma2 like dreamboxes do

I have had a clone dm800 for about 3 months and I am little disappointed with the box. My clone dm600 performance wise is much better then the dm800 even though the quality of the picture is better on the dm800 . What I would like to know is if the VU+ tuner is better then the clone dm800 even before you start thinking about the quality of the pictures.

The Picture quality is very sharp on the new 500HD using Gemini 5.0, but I tried other Images such as Dream-Elite and it was shocking ....

Of course its in the eye of the beholder much of the quality, but over the older 800HD I founld there to be much more colour and sharpness, due mainly to a Broadcom powered Tuner making a big Differance.

The Price differance between the Vu+ and the New Verions of the Dreambox's is down to the Processor.

Vu+ are using a older version Broadcom processor, it has less Kick than the version Dream are curently using but Vu+ are trying to make up for it in other ways, by getting the hardware to compensate for the weaker/older Processor (With good results by all accounts).

Nearly all owner speek highly of thier Solo or Duo.

I am and always will be Dreambox fanboy, but much of reason behind more powerfull receivers, is not for hacking or C/S but for IPTV streaming which will be the next reincarnation of C/S & emulation.

Then we can accurately judge these new receivers and there capabilities.

Thats a load of Crap Benny M8.

When you run the authentication Check it gives a code that is generated by the Dream server and displayed on screen of your TV.
Then you have to log onto the Dream website and enter the Code, then It will either Pass or Fail By giving you a Serial Number of your Receiver
The Result on the website then asks you to see if the Serial number matches your Receivers Serial number.

The authentication does not run directly from the receiver only a Random generated Number appears from the Dream Server.


I am Sorry Jackpot m8, but on every Thread regarding Comparison between the Dreambox & Vu+ or other latly there is nothing more than Scaremongering of the Dreambox been added, I think my above Points were unbiost regarding both receivers you were asking about, I do not like when People start the Scaremongering .
