HTPC with dreambox like functionality

is it possible to build a htpc that has similar functionality to that a of dreambox?

if so is there any particular hardware / software i would need?

I am sure you could with the right hardware and serously modified software, I have often thought of doing a simular project myself.

You can get a dvb-c card and there's software that can have softcams, i.e. evocamd, mgcamd, etc. so it would be just like a dreambox.

I'd just buy a dm600-pvr .

I've currently got a dm800 but it doesn't play hd content like x264 encoded video it also doesn't output hd dts audio and being a single tuner can only record and watch 1 channel

With the dm8000 weighing in at 700 quid (and no hd audio x264) I'm thinking a htpc might be the way forward

Would i just install say windows media centre edition. install a sat card and then install a software cam and thats it? or is there a lot more too it?
