what do i need to get started?????

    afternoon
I'm just starting out into sat i would like to know what kind of equipment i would need to buy to strat viewing tv from around the world? i'd like something that's expandable to allow for other events such as sports to be included. hope i don't sound to vague as i haven't a clue where to go to get the tackle or what to buy?
any help would be much appreciated

You should start with a 1m dish motorised system, there are a few satellites up there you really need to be able to scan.
1w, 9e, 13e, 16e, 19.2e and 28.2e (or Sky as the man in the street seems to call it). Amongst others. Dont get a fixed dish as things can change in this hobby. 1w had lots that could be opened not so long ago, but not now.

As for the stb (set top box), well, thats another story.

I have a Protek, which opens a lot on many sats for a one off cost. Also have a dreambox, which is a bit more complex and maybe one for the future after you get the hang of whats up there and what you want to see.
