I would say that it is most likely that you will get a message like this or similar to this one
"Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only"
and the only way that you could get around it is with a proxy or VPN.
You will still be able to view the BBC channels FTA on satellite though. -
But if its on freesat why would you or how could you use a proxy?I would say that it is most likely that you will get a message like this or similar to this one

Some Freesat receivers have an ethernet connection that enables the user to access iplayer on their tv. In order to view the iplayer you must be in the uk and if you are not in the uk you may have to use a proxy to access it.
The normal freesat channels that you can receive via satellite do not however require a proxy to watch them.Comment

Ok cool. Knew about using proxy for viewing online from outside uk but thought by the first post that it came via sat.Comment

Full access to BBC Iplayer, ITV, Film4 etc...free VPN
Found this software which will allow anyone outside the UK access to British TV, Iplayer etc.
Google Expats Shield
Works a treat on BBC Iplayer full access to downloads, good speed, little bit sluggish when surfing the web.
Anoying adds now and then, but not while viewing videos.
enjoy.Comment

This is what I use in Germany to get BBCiplayer and RTEiplayer works great for me
Step 1.
Find a list of British & Irish free proxies. You can Google it or this list here. http://www.hidemyass.com/proxy-list/search-383
Step 2.
Now choose an IP address and port from the list. In this tutorial I have chosen IP: 89.28.178.40 and port: 8080. You can choose whatever you like.

Step 3.
Open Firefox and in the menu choose Tools and then Options.

This will open the Firefox Options window. Click on Advance Options..

Step 4.
Click on Network tab and the click Settings button under Connection.

Step 5.
In Connection Settings window, click Manual proxy configuration. Now enter the IP address in HTTP Proxy and Port address in Port. ( In this example HTTP Proxy address is 89.28.178.40 and Port is 8080).
Also check the box 'Use this proxy server for all protocols'. Click ok and your IP is set to desired Proxy.

You can use any online service to check your IP. Like check IP Chicken - Whats my IP address? ip address lookup is a site solely dedicated for this purpose.
Step 6.
As soon as the stream starts you can disconnect fom the proxy if you like.Last edited by alunfennell; 8 November, 2010, 18:39.Comment
