May I remind you The Dreambox 800 HD & the 7020 are dated receivers and neither can be compaired with the Vu+ Duo.

The Dreambox receiver closest to the Vu+ duo is the Dreambox 8000 (Blows the Duo away) but costs considerable more ! it blows the Duo out like a bad fart.

The Vu+ solo can be compaired with the new Dreambox 500HD, the new Dreambox is a far better receiver than the Solo by miles.

And the New Dreambox 800HD-SE will be considered a new Gem in HD receivers when released later this Year and will give the Vu+ a good run for its money.

Once again you must compare like for like when comparing different receivers.

My opinion the VU+ by all accounts is a good receiver, and was even better when Dream-Elite were still online and supporting this receiver, Now that Dream-Elite Team have faded away into oblivion, this has in my opinion made this receiver a far lesser option for enthusiasts.

Yes there are other Images & support Teams from AFF Team, PLi, VTI Vu+ Team Image & one or two others but these (except for PLI) are not as high quality nor have fully intergrated Support such as Gemini, newnigma2, EDG-Nemesis or even the lesser Merlin2-Excalibur.

Vu+ lost a lot of appeal with the demise of Dream-Elite Team and its support and Has / will Hurt this receiver untill such time as another Team give it as much supports as the Dream-Elite team did.

So For the Moment at least the Draembox wins hands down with its New and soon to be released receivers on the market along with a Vast amount of supports and Fully intregrated Images.

totally agree with you mate was playing with a Vu+ duo a couple of weeks back and it was a good box and i was impressed for its price. But it did not come close to the dm8000 i think it will be a long time before the DM8000 has a decent Challenger

Since this thread is about how good the VU+ Duo is, can I ask whether it reads and updates sly cards?

            Cheers

I notice that the last post on this was back in sep 2010. I was just curious is the vu+duo and the dreambox 8000 still the two main rival for for the best receivers or have others come into the frame in 2011 and are able to offer the same for less or the same and more ? If I'm thinking about boxes like these should I totally forget about Openbox S10 for what it offers? as this is a box I heard being mentioned a lot.
