    motorised or monoblock

hi guys i'm just in the process of getting together everything i need for a resonable satelite system

i'm pretty good with the cable dbox so would think a box thats linux based is best for me

so bearing that in mind what would you guys reccomend a motorised dish or a monobloc lnb

Depends what you want, but they don't really compare.

A decent, well setup motorised dish should be able to receive channels from 20+ sats, with a monobloc LNB you're limiting yourself to 2 sats.

    Unless you mean a multi-sat/LNB set-up?

it just aint worth using 2nd hand mate its going to take a lot of effort to get the motor and dish up and then correctly aligned.if the dish is rusty it must be ancient it takes years to get like that.

That dish is ancient, and also a polarmount with a linear actuator, so unless it's been supplied with a v-box to control/power the motor (linear actuator) its not much use with modern DiSeqC receivers.

If you need to buy a V-box that will cost ?40+ and looking at the condition of it i'd be surprised if it's in working order and depending on the length of the actuator that will be another ?40+ to replace.

In short, you'd be better off ditching it, and going for a new dish and DiSEqC motor.
