    LNB issue

In my rush to get this motorized dish set up when it was nice and sunny I think I might of forgotten to tape up the LNB and motor with self amalgamation tape (think that's what its called but the rubber caps covering the f-connectors are on) and now I think that water has gotten into the LNB causing the BER to go potty..

I've done a factory reset on my dm500s and now it will only find 0.8west and then it will only scan 100 ish channels and only a handful work due to the BER being so high. The box still works perfectly as I've tried it at my neighbour house and it picks up 28 east.

So my question is will I have to completely strip all the cabling and start again or will it just be the cable to the Motor and LNB (and of course replace the LNB).. ?

have you tried fine tuning the dish ..a bit of tape missing for a short time wont cause much bother as ive only taped mine up myself yeaterday and the dish has been up 2 weeks
my old dish never had tape on it ever and worked for years

Not as yet, I can only get hold of some ladders at the weekend, im hoping its nothing to serious ..

hopefully its something as little as the skew on the LNB needs tweaking, I'll take off the LNB that came with the set up and put on this TECHNOMATE TM-1 SUPER HIGH 0.1dB SINGLE UNIVERSAL LNB I've bought off flebay and hope it sorts it out.

If water has got into the cable then it will need replacing.
Swapping lnb will hopefully sort you out though.
Also always make sure you put a loop of cable near the lnb, this stops the water going back to lnb.

i have just replaced my lnb with one of those and it made a big difference in the signal went up about 4 bars on my meter

you can tweak the dish from inside(only side to side) using
the motor setup menu on the dm500

Was going to say the same thing :-) we had a serious gale down in the west on tues and i lost all channles, got the ladder out today realigned the dish slightly and picked 28e, but i could not pick up 1w and i gave up on getting 1w after a while but got the best signal to date on 28e, i set the box back up on the main set up tweaked the motor settings on the box as nellyscossy stated, and it picked up 1w and all others satellites with no problem to my supprise.

PS:- To test the dish i had a spare portable tv and connected it outside with the box where the dish is so i could see what is happening in real time, to make things alot easier.
