once you have the correct setting for your location set on the motor then you need to enter your long/lat details in the stb menu then drive to zero. now select thor/intelsat in the menu and drive the dish to thor., now you can select bbc world news channel and then ajust your motor LEFT+RIGHT and your dish UP+DOWN untill you are getting bbc world news and a 80-90% sq reading. you can now fine tune by very small ajustments to the dish/motor and also the skew of the lnb and small 0.1 ajustments to your lat/long details in the motor set-up menu. when your getting the best possible signal send your dish to 42e and then 30w to check and if there ok then fully tighten all the nuts+bolts on the dish/motor. regards mdt

I dont do motorized but I think to drive to zero is neither west nor east but due south as the starting point to go either west or east.
Imagine the rainbow. at the very top would be zero. Back down the curve from there going left would be east to the very bottom to 42e or 45e.and going right back down to the bottom 30w and 39w etc.
I`m just trying to explain so excuse me if you feel I`m talking down to you. Best of luck.

The motor is usually set to 0 anyway.

about 1 o"clock.but if you have found 13E with usals it should find 0.8W automatically if your pole is 100% plumb.I cant remember if I sent a set up guide to you or not so here it is.
If you send the dish to zero then move the motor/dish assembly by hand to point due south this will give you a starting point, then as MDT has said send the dish to 0.8West(thor) and search for that sat by moving the motor/dish assembly L/R and the dish elevation up/down til you find bbc world.read the guide its all in there(read the usals section)

                all done thank god

first off thanks to all you who have put up with me for the last few days
i was infact doing the procedure correct but when i was searching for thor sat the meter that i had was beeping very nicely but the signal on the box was poor all i done was changed the freq then the signal went straight up i've tested it with a few sattelites and its bang on might be worth mentioning it in the thread

glad your sorted mate as said in the guide 11.325 H 24500 bbcworld is a good strong TP on 1West to set up on.the 1st transponder on any sat is usually no good.

I"ve answered the hotbird prob in your other thread.
the reason you cant save the position is you are on usals and the motor position is governed by your longitude setting.
so here is how to fine tune it.go into the motorised setting menu drop to position setting>ok>antenna longitude and now alter your longitude position 0.2 at a time both east and west and make a note of the quality reading each time you will then be able to peak the signal the longitude setting can rarely be left on your exact position.

your getting there mate but is does take time.not all transponders transmit at the same level(and a lot are dead)
on 39E transponder 10.956V 3123 mad tv bulgaria is a good fta channel to setup on. you cant pick a transponder to use as they are fixed to the channels they contain, and some are stronger than others.

If you scan and find a channel and later have to nudge a little east or west in the usals menu it means you are not pointing at the sat properly and when you come out of the menu it will move back to the sat because the sat position is already set into the motor chip. Check the dish is exactly in line with the centre line on the motor tube, and both side of the dish bracket numbers are the same, and make sure you tighten the bolts evenly so as not to deform the brackets.
Try this and see how you get on.
