Which new system should I buy?

    Hi Guys

I currently have a TM 5200D + Super but the list of channels available via softcam is becoming increasingly small. Therefore I was considering changing my receiver. I have a motorised system on a 90cm dish in Dublin.

I am not too much of a techie even though I did do the TM install myself. Therefore I was considering the Spiderbox 7000 as I was told it was as good as plug and play and loads of channels opening up with this box and no Linux knowledge required. However, I have also been told that this system is just a leeching scam (by the way it is promoted on a certain other Forum at the detriment of all other boxes rings alarm bells) and as such I am wary of buying one.

Can anyone either put my mind at rest on the Spider, recommend a more suitable alternative that doesn't require the input of a computer genius or tell me that actually my trusty old TM is not such a bad machine after all and I just need to know how to get the best from it.

Well like you said the Spiderbox is a Leaching Receiver & has along with Payservers given Cardsharing a Bad Name, Before all of these receivers and payservers Cardsharing was Low Key and fairly anonymous.

But I understand why many people Buy these receiver because they do not have the Time to invest in learing how to do it for themselves, If a Receiver basically comes out of the box and opens Channels there will always be people there to buy such a Product.

If you are serious in Learning and want a Receiver that has the Potential to last Five to eight years then look at the New Dreamboxs 500HD, 8000HD or the new 800HD-se to be released soon, alternatively look at the Vu+ Range for a slightly cheaper option.

For opening Channels you are better to get a few friend or family involved five or six of you & one person buys a subscription and share it amoung yourselves (for a Tenner a month each how bad )you can then share it on C/S forums to open channels abroad such as Sky Germany, C+ etc.

So you will need a little investmnet to get up and running but the Dreambox or Vu+ are your best options for the moment. Hope it help....

      HI,

I own a spiderbox and a protek 9750ip and both boxes have good and bad, the protek is a great reciever and the spider box is just let down by support sometimes..

But CS is CS which ever way you do it, if you want a simple plug and play then an IP STB or a spiderbox is simples and both my boxes have been stable.

Its a personel choice and the best advice I can give is read and read some more. We all think our box is best.
